The Sea Captain’s House, a listed property built in 1864 by a prosperous ship-owning family, is one of the best preserved historical mansions on the cliff of Santorini. It has three (yes, only three!) elegant and luxuriously appointed suites with wide plank floors and immensely high cross-vaulted ceilings. They are furnished with lovely antiques and locally handcrafted items. Thanks to American-born owner Tony Mosiman this tiny, and extremely romantic, hotel has a homey, relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
The young staff offer an impeccable service, ranging from breakfast ‘on demand’ (wherever, whatever and whenever!) and spa and massage treatments, to small gestures such as a candle-lit suite waiting for you when you come ‘home’ after dark. Tony has two excellent restaurants nearby (Ambrosia and Ambrosia & Nectar), so make sure you stay for at least two nights and try them both!
